Anka's grandfather unsuccessfully struggles with progressive Alzheimer's, talking to his deceased grandson in between searching for a wiretap hidden, as it seems to him, in the house. The father, who, according to his mother's stories, is a diplomat traveling around the world, actually turns out to be an alcoholic who drank the last thing they had: an apartment.
